Farce of Habit Press Release – February 6, 2019
Valley Players invites you to an absurdly funny romp at the Reel ‘Em Inn, the finest little fishing lodge in the Ozarks.
Valley Players and the Napa Valley Performing Arts Center at Lincoln Theater present Farce of Habit by the comedy writing team Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten—February 15th through 23rd at the Lincoln Theater in Yountville.
NAPA, CA, February 6, 2019 – Comic fireworks explode in FARCE OF HABIT! Wanelle and D. Gene Wilburn run the Inn on a peaceful little lake – but peace is the last thing that happens the weekend that Wanelle picks to white-knuckle her way through caffeine withdrawal. Her son Ty’s marriage to Jenna is falling apart fast – could it have something to do with the French can-can costume Ty is wearing? And how on earth did D. Gene’s feisty sister, Maxie, allow herself to get caught up in a bizarre undercover police assignment? And that’s just the family!
There is a gaggle of nuns who’ve converged on the Inn, hell-bent on experiencing a nature retreat—which might be tolerable if D. Gene didn’t have a chronic fear of anything in a habit. Add to this the presence of Jock McNair, a nationally known relationship guru whose colossal ego threatens everyone’s sanity; a shy retiree anxious to cut loose and embrace his “inner caveman”; and a couple of wild women who may or may not be who they claim to be. Throw in the storm of the century that’s fast bearing down on Mayhew, Arkansas, and no one has a prayer of baiting a hook any time soon. Oh, and did we mention there’s an axe murderer on the loose?
The writing team of Jones, Hope, and Wooten is famous for its zany comedies that feature strong roles for women. So, if you enjoy gloriously preposterous hilarity, then laughing your way through the take-no-prisoners lunacy of a Jones-Hope-Wooten comedy is one habit you’ll never want to break!
Farce of Habit is directed by Megan Palagi and features James Adams, Krisi Pilkington Adams, Rhonda Bowen, Kit Grimm, Christina Julian, Patte Quinn, Craig Rekdahl, Robert Silva, and Randi Storm. Produced by Valley Players thanks to the generosity of the Napa Valley Performing Arts Center at Lincoln Theater and partial funding by a Community Fund Grant from Arts Council Napa Valley.
