The Old Friends Press Release – June 19, 2018

Valley Players bring small-town Texas to Napa Valley with Horton Foote’s The Old Friends

Valley Players and the Napa Valley Performing Arts Center at Lincoln Theater present The Old Friends by Pulitzer Prize winner Horton Foote for six performances—July 7th through 15th at the Lincoln Theater in Yountville.

NAPA, CA, June 19, 2018 – Two old Texas families bound together by blood, marriage, and ancient feuds come together for a happy occasion—the return of a prodigal son and his wife—and end up in mortal combat, confronting the issues surrounding legacy, loyalty, and the meaning of happiness that have hounded them for generations.

It has been said that going to a Horton Foote play is like catching up with good friends and friendly enemies at a family reunion. His final play—The Old Friends—doesn’t disappoint; with bitter rivalries, greedy power plays, compelling dialogue, and colorful characters. Described by New York Magazine as an “unapologetic potboiler, half-Chekhov, half-Dallas, and great gooey gobs of grim Suhthun’ fun,” Valley Players is proud to offer it up for your summer entertainment at the Napa Valley Performing Arts Center at Lincoln Theater.

The Old Friends is directed by Barbara McFadden and features Debbie Baumann, Rhonda Bowen, Paul Cotten, Lauren Haugan, Bruce A. Miroglio, Joseph Pharr, June Alane Reif, and Randi Storm. Produced by Valley Players thanks to the generosity of the Napa Valley Performing Arts Center at Lincoln Theater and partial funding from Napa County Arts and Culture grants program, The Old Friends is recommended for mature audiences.

Showtimes are July 7, 13 & 14 at 7 pm and July 8, 14 & 15 at 3 pm. Tickets are $20.
