Thanks for supporting theater

Letter to the Editor, June Alane Reif, May 22, 2017

Everyone in the Napa Valley knows about the Napa Valley Performing Arts Center at Lincoln Theater. What they may not know, is that they are truly committed to enriching our community.

Valley Players wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the Napa Valley Performing Arts Center at Lincoln Theater for having given them the opportunity to produce both “The Lover” in January and “Anton in Show Business” just last week. Their generosity allowed our new theater troupe to stretch out its wings and give local theatrical artists the chance to work in a professional theater.

Without the support of the Napa Valley Performing Arts Center at Lincoln Theater, we would never have been able to accomplish those feats.

We would also like to thank their entire staff and specifically, Christian Parks, Chris Knudsen, Shawn Potter and Laila Aghaie for their kindness and professionalism.

In today’s climate of science denial and arts-defunding, we feel it appropriate to quote the words of the first president of this beautiful country, George Washington, “The Arts and Sciences, essential to the prosperity of the State and to the ornament of human life, have a primary claim to the encouragement of every lover of his country and mankind.”

With that in mind, we urge you to consider supporting the Napa Valley Performing Arts Center at Lincoln Theater and your other local arts and science organizations.
