James Adams (Huddle Fisk) has been acting for about 8 years and received an Arty Award for his portrayal of Lucky in Waiting for Godot. He has worked both behind the scenes and in the spotlight but prefers the spotlight light! His film and video work includes background work for 13 Reasons Why seasons 1 and 2 and two television commercials. He studied acting for four years at Academy of Art in San Fransisco and uses what he’s learned on a daily basis! Krisi Pilkington Adams (Maxie Suggs) hasn’t been on stage for a while but is thrilled to be back with such an awesome character as Maxie. I’ll admit that before seeing the world premiere of “Ordinary Day,” written by Bay Area playwright Lorraine Midanik, I would not have given an affirmative answer to that question. June Alane Reif (Director) fell in love with the stage as a toddler and studied theater as a young adult at Louisiana State University where she made her directorial debut with an adaptation of Kay Boyle’s The Astronomer’s Wife. Once bitten by the directing bug, she has certainly not been shy—directing shows in playhouses from Baton Rouge, LA to Napa, CA. Some of her most memorable directorial achievements include Biloxi Blues, On Golden Pond, Laura, Seascape and God of Carnage. June is a veteran actor, director and board member of Valley Players. Zachary Stockton (Henry) holds a BA in theater from the University of California at Davis. He has been a Workhorse of the Napa theater scene for almost 50 years. Most recently he has appeared in Sister Act, The Odd Couple, Comedy of Errors, Annie Get Your Gun and God of Carnage. When he’s not on stage, he is either getting paid to talk and drink or riding a motorcycle. Karen Stern (Maggie) is making her first appearance with Valley Players; she had previously worked with director June Alane Reif at Dreamweavers Theatre in The Gin Game. It’s called “The Old Friends,” by Horton Foote, and it is a dramatic potboiler filled with adultery, money and marital strife, all submerged in a sea of alcohol. The play is virtually a river of cocktails, fueling alcoholic rages and general misanthropy that will make even a teetotaler want to go to an AA meeting. Who is Horton Foote?

Who is Horton Foote?

The Old Friends
Horton Foote was born on March 14, 1916, in Wharton, Texas. He began his career at the tender age of 16, convincing his parents to allow him to go to acting school. He ended up in Pasadena, California, where he studied for two years at the Pasadena Playhouse. He subsequently moved to New York City and studied at Tamara Daykarhanova's Theatre School, where he was indoctrinated into Michael Chekhov's version of the Second Studio technique developed at the Moscow Art Theatre. In time, Foote the dramatist would be hailed as the "American Chekhov". (more…)
